The Land

The Land is an outdoor live music venue on 25 acres in North Anson, Maine. Its website sells tickets for each show and takes vendor and sponsor applications, and the owner runs events, lineups, and page content from a dashboard.

The brief

The venue was on an old template site and needed its own ticketing, vendor and sponsor sign-ups, and pages the owner could update without touching code. I built a custom platform around a dashboard designed for a non-technical owner, with tickets sold through the venue’s own online checkout instead of a third-party ticketing service.

What I built

  • Site for events, ticket checkout, vendors, sponsors, gallery, about, and contact, built from approved mockups in a dark wood and amber style
  • Custom on-site card checkout for event tickets, with sales tracking, confirmation emails, and an event check-in screen
  • Vendor and sponsor application forms; once approved in the dashboard, vendors and sponsors are billed with online invoices
  • Admin dashboard for events, ticket tiers, lineups, sponsor tiers, and vendors, with a rich text editor for page content
  • Event badges (sold out, camping available, rain or shine, and more) and event categories, managed from the dashboard
  • Per-page hero images and video, with separate mobile media, set from the dashboard
  • Cut site image weight from 148 MB to 7 MB by converting images to a lighter format, then set the first event card to load right away instead of waiting, so the page’s main content shows sooner
  • Animated fireflies on the homepage that the owner can switch on or off
